Pochettino: Impossible to put price tag on Kane

Placing a price tag on Tottenham s record-breaking striker Harry Kane is impossible , according to manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Kane – a doubt for Spurs January 2 game at Swansea City due to illness – has hit hat-tricks in his last two Premier League appearances against Burnley and Southampton.

The England forward s goalscoring exploits meant he broke Alan Shearer s record of Premier League goals in a calendar year, as well as surpassing Lionel Messi s haul for club and country in 2017.

Kane has indicated he would be happy to stay at Tottenham for his whole career despite regular speculation linking the striker with clubs including Real Madrid.

And Pochettino is confident of keeping hold of his star man, with Kane targeting Shearer s all-time reco…

Paderborn v Borussia Dortmund: Breitenreiter hoping for off-colour visitors

Andre Breitenreiter feels Paderborn will have to catch Borussia Dortmund on a bad day if they are to heap more misery on their neighbours.

Heading into Saturday s contest that serves as the first league meeting between the two North Rhine-Westphalia teams, it is Paderborn that have surprisingly enjoyed the better season so far.

Paderborn are playing in the Bundesliga for the first time in their history and have been undaunted by the challenge, with a return of 15 points from 11 games good enough to sit ninth in the German top flight.

Meanwhile, it has been a campaign of struggle for Jurgen Klopp s men, who are a lowly 15th in the table having already lost seven times in the league this season, a tally equal to the amount of Bundesliga defeats that Dortmund in…

Benitez: Napoli could emulate Atletico

Atletico Madrid s breakthrough title looks set to inspire clubs all over Europe with Rafael Benitez claiming Napoli could be Italy s example.

Napoli have not won Serie A since the 1989-90 season but Benitez said on Monday that the club could be inspired by Atleti s success in Spain, after watching Diego Simeone s men draw 1-1 at Barcelona on Saturday to notch their first La Liga title in 18 years.

Atleti s win was the first time in 10 seasons a club apart from Barcelona and Real Madrid were crowned champions in Spain s top flight.

In Italy s Serie A, Juventus have won three consecutive titles, while the Turin giants, plus Milan and Inter, have hoarded the past 12 Scudettos.

Roma were the last club outside Italy s most successful trio to win the Serie A, and Benit…

Selfless Kane says Spurs smash-and-grab ´exactly what we set out for´

Harry Kane was delighted with the way Tottenham grabbed a 2-0 victory against Arsenal on Sunday, even as he was again tasked with defensive duties.

Kane created a brilliant opener for Son Heung-min and netted a similarly impressive second on the stroke of half-time following a pass from the same team-mate.

Spurs were on the back foot throughout, the second goal coming from one of their two fast breaks as Arsenal bossed 69.2 per cent of the possession.

But as Jose Mourinho s men went back to the top of the Premier League table, cheered on by 2,000 returning supporters, Kane hailed the hosts performance.

Fantastic, he told Sky Sports. [It was] exactly what we set out for.

We played well in the first half; the second half was a bit of a grind, but …

Lallana cools Liverpool exit talk

Adam Lallana insists he remains committed to Liverpool despite reported interest from Premier League counterparts Tottenham.

Lallana, 28, joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2014 for £25million and has gone on to make almost 100 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals.

However, recent reports have linked Lallana with a move away from Anfield to link up with his former Southampton boss Pochettino at Tottenham.

But Lallana admitted it would be very difficult to leave Liverpool, especially with the club set to compete in its second cup final in 2016.

I’ve got three years left on my contract here, the midfielder said on Monday.

It was only last season that people might have read that I was leaving and thought Yes, let s get him out . …

Superb England win as we all hope it isn’t another false dawn

Just when you thought that a decent England performance was impossible, they go and win at Croatia 4-1. It was a very good performance indeed.

Well, that’s the international break finished with, thank goodness. Does anyone else find the suspension of the domestic leagues and the international matches being played to be a complete pain in the a**e?

As an England fan I am faced with the dubious pleasure of having to analyse the performance of our over paid, over hyped, primma Donnas. Actually, I don’t really feel that way but you can’t call yourself an English football writer unless you use at least one of those descriptions when writing about our players. Even after they do the business like they did last night.

Delph keen to extend Villa stay

Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph has insisted that he has no intention of seeking a move elsewhere,.

The 24 year old has endured a largely frustrating time since signing from Leeds United in January 2012 having spent much time on the side-lines.

However, he appeared in all but four of the club’s league games last season, scoring three times, and was named player of the season by the Villa fans.

His form even saw some call for him to be recognised internationally at senior level, having won just two caps for the U21’s in his career so far.

He is entering the final year of his contract with the Midlands club, but is keep to sign a new deal to pay back the faith owner Randy Lerner has shown in him.

Van Persie confident Arsenal will go the distance to win Premier League title

Robin van Persie backed Arsenal to fend off the threat of Manchester City and win the Premier League for the first time since the 2003-04 season.

The Gunners entered the international break with an eight-point lead over Pep Guardiola s defending champions, who have a game in hand, and are just 10 games away from clinching glory.

A tough month lies ahead for Arsenal in April, with trips to face Liverpool and City as well as a home clash with Chelsea, while high-flying Newcastle United await in May.

Arsenal have fallen short in their quest to end their Premier League trophy drought and the side s inexperience in such situations raises concern, though former captain Van Persie sees no such issues.

Arsenal are doing really well, they play consistently. They …

Torino

Things have been rather hectic for Torino this season. The Serie A top-table hopefuls have parted ways with Sinisa Mihajlovic back in January after the Serb’s two-year spell at the helm. El Toro then appointed former Watford boss Walter Mazzarri who appears to be finally making his mark at the club.
